The Lontué River Board has faced increasingly challenging and variable irrigation seasons, with average flows that can exceed 120 m3/s at the beginning of the thaw in October, dropping to less than 20 m3/s by March, reaching around 10 m3 in 2021.
This great variability - and the fact that they do not have a head reservoir - forces the River Board to make daily distributions to adapt and meet the needs of their users. To support this objective, they were one of the first in the country to implement flow telemetry in all their extractions.
However, they were unable to analyze this data or transform it into actionable information, as it came from 5 different providers, plus the Water Directorate (DGA).
